I know this is May already, but I only got my April Foodie Penpals package today. So here's a reason why Turkey should be a part of the European Union: probably I would have received Vildan's lovely package a lot sooner.
First impression? Wow chocolate. Yeay Turkish coffee! Pistachios? Yum! Second impression: ouch, language really is a barrier. Thank god for Google Translate.
First item I got out of the package: Koska's Turkish Delight - double pistachio. These Turkish sweets are amazingly soft and tasty - not that I immediately opened the box and tried some. *Cof! cof!*

*Cof! cof!*
Elit's Bohem Assorted Chocolate Selection really caught my attention, so I looked for it online.
I found the next one really cute, as it reminded me of nougat, except that this one's made with pistachios, not peanuts as the Portuguese usual versions.
A Tarhana soup mix. I'm really curious about it, as that's something I've never tasted and I feel will make me feel I'm in Turkey.
I was completely confused by the next one. The picture showed a cookie, inside all I could see was crumbs, and I couldn't understand a word on the package. The trip must have been long and bumpy! (But all's not lost: I'll think of a use for the crumbs!)
Hot seasoning: gimme a kiss! Another one I can't wait to try. // Tempero picante: dá cá uma beijoca! Outro que mal posso esperar para experimentar.
Last but not least, Turkish coffee, 100% arabica. Big, big smile. // E por fim, café turco, 100% arabica. Sorriso enorme.
Again: Vildan, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteBeijinhos;

Muito obrigada! Vamos ver que fusões Portugal-Turquia consigo inventar. :)

Pareces eu a pensar...

Agora imagino-me numa praia turca e pronto. :) Beijinhos!
DeleteQuanta coisa boa.

:) Beijinhos
DeleteWhat a great selection of goodies. I love the look of the turkish delight - I'm a big fan. And I'd like to try the chocolates xx
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this exchange programme: I get to send things I love from my country and to taste wonderful things from others. :)) The Turkish Delight sweets are in-cre-di-ble. ;)
DeleteWhat an awesome package. It must have felt like Christmas-but a good christmas where you get interesting things and not socks :P
ReplyDeleteA-ha-ha :D That's it: a Christmas-feeling. Even trying to decide what's best for a certain person because they're either vegetarian or have allergies or loves cooking is amazing. :) I tend to get a bit "nervous" until I know the package has arrived safely, though. Even politics and economy get in the way: a parcel from England has taken from 2 days (yes!) to 5 days to arrive, but this one, from outside the E.U. was sent about a month ago... Ah, well... It's here now! :)
DeleteSo many delicious goodies my friend :D
ReplyDeleteCheers
CCU
Yup, Vildan sent me so many treats I don't know where to start using them. :D
DeleteYour package looks amazing! Wish I could take part in this exciting activity!
ReplyDeleteOh :/ Why don't you start a similar programme or see if there's already a similar one there? I've been on it since September and I can say there's so much I've learnt / tasted /got inspired with... One thing is to read in books or on Wikipedia about a certain ingredient. But it's quite a different thing to taste it and try it mixed with your own ingredients. :) :) :) I have to use McDonald's words, because... I'M LOVING IT! :P
DeleteTantas prendinhas boas !!!!
Deleteso many goodies! oh, that cookies..what a shame that it didnt survived the bumps..hehe..
ReplyDeleteEheheh At least it wasn't a liquid! :P It reminds me one time my aunt from Melbourne sent me a box of chocolates - many many many MANY years ago, when they were probably placed next to the plane engines (kidding). I was so excited opening it... then finally I saw the chocolate had all melted and solidified again, in weird shapes. I was SO sad, but couldn't help but laugh at the situation.
DeleteHi Alex, excellent pen pal exchange package, very interesting ideas. I love the chocolate and Turkish coffee.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead.
Me too, I can't wait to try all the goodies! :)))
DeleteQue seleção maravilhosa! Adoro delicias turcas!
ReplyDeleteBjs
