Chocolate mousse with whiskey // Mousse de chocolate com whiskey

The recipe for the chocolate mousse is nothing new.

Place 200g of dark chocolate and 100g of butter in a bain-marie. When it's melted, mix with a spoon.

Beat 4 egg yolks with 100g of sugar and whisk the 4 egg whites.

Pour the chocolate and butter mixture into the egg yolks and mix. Finally, incorporate the egg whites.

Serve the chocolate mousse in individual bowls and let it set in the fridge.

When it's time to serve, add half a dessert spoon of whiskey [I used J&B] and mix it with a spoon. What's going to happen? Well, it will turn more creamy and shiny and bubbly and then you'll have the whisky fragrance giving you that extra wink: "drink me!, oh, drink me!". I decorated it with some mint [again, I used some from my parents' garden, which I brought this week].

That's what happens when you're too excited to use this lovely meia.duzia jam tube: sorry, photo lovers!

I plated it with some lovely blackberry extra jam with hazelnut and nutmeg by a Portuguese company from Braga called meia.dúzia [check their facebook page here]. I've just discovered it recently, while I was looking for some Christmas presents and found some for myself. First, the cute little tubes caught my attention and I was amazed by their combinations of flavours in jams. This one compliments the mousse with just that right amount of fruitiness, without averting all our senses from the dessert. Besides, there's this warmth to it, with the hazelnut and the nutmeg... Oh, well, you just have to try it, really.

A bit messy, all of the flavour.

Finalmente, incorpora as claras.
