I needed a few days to relax before getting back to work [I still can't believe there's only ONE holiday before Christmas], and that's what I got. THAT and a lot more. Starting with the fact that my holidays in the Alentejo (Évora) were divided in two parts. First, because I couldn't get any extra days at M'Ar De AR Aqueduto when we first stayed there for 3 nights (that's how great it is), and especially because indeed we found our days there so great that we didn't mind the 380km just to be able to enjoy a couple of extra days, a week and a half later. And yes, had I the time now, I wouldn't even blink and head there again. We had already been there a couple of years ago, and it was such a nice surprise to be welcomed with a puzzling face and the cautious comment: "Haven't you been here before?". That could actually be one of the key moments of our stay(s) - we heard it once again, when we went back. The staff is attentive, polite yet very friendly, allowing us to have our space but also keen and active to solve any problems they predict their guests are having. The hotel is located right at the beginning of one of the entrances of the wall, making it easy to walk around the city's historical centre. There are lots of historic sites, as well as nice stores, cafés and restaurants (be careful and book in advance: many of the restaurants are rather small). Besides, the hotel has free parking. Meaning we didn't move the car - not even once. The 5-star hotel has 64 bedrooms. During our first part of the holidays we stayed on the ground floor and had a cute small garden to ourselves which lead to the pool area, while in our final stay we were on the first floor, also facing the garden (see pictures). We enjoyed the warm sunny Alentejo weather by the pool most of the time, reading, sunbathing and swimming. And trying to guess which countries all the guests came from. There were breaks for sleeping, drinking and eating - Degust'AR: what a great experience. And hitting the sauna.
